The distance we travel on our fingers is never thought of as a measurement of how much we interact with our devices. When visualised in space, these finger movements present a dynamic touch based interaction that we engage with the screen similar to a conductor’s movement in the air or as Harun Farocki put it a “casting of spells” and the phone screen a magic object.

 

The various finger movements were a donation from participants that recreated their interaction with a touchscreens.
